Unity Dif V2.21 makes associated
corrections and evolutions of the Software Unity Dif V2.1, as described
below:

Evolution
to have the possibility to compare applications using Unity Pro 5.0 and Unity
Pro 6.0
Unity Dif V2.21 includes all
patches from Unity Dif V2.1.
1.1.
Software description
Unity Dif is a new optional
software which complements Unity Pro to compare 2 projects and provides an
exhaustive list of all the differences between them.
o
Hardware
configuration including module and field bus configuration
o
Network
configuration (Ethernet, Modbus Plus, Fipway)
o
Project
structure including program section, tasks and functional modules
o
Program
regardless of the language(s) used (Structured Text, Ladder Diagram, Instruction
List, Functional Block Diagram, Sequential Flow Chart)

Type
of the user function blocks (DFB , DDT)
o
Project
settings
o
All
variables
The result of the comparison
between the two applications can be:
o
Displayed.
o
Printed.
o
Saved
in .txt format.

Unity Pro interaction
Like Unity Dif V2.21 is an option
to Unity Pro, it is possible to:

the comparison from Unity Pro directly by the Tools menu

2.1.

application that is developed using Unity Pro Vn
2.2.
Unity Pro compatibility
Unity Pro from the version V2.1 to
V3.1 (XL, XLS).
Unity Pro 4.0 and
Unity Pro 4.1 (S, M, L, XL, XLS).
Unity Pro 5.0
(S, M, L, XL).
Unity Pro 6.0
(S, M, L, XL).
Project settings of Unity Pro V4.1,
V5.0 and V6.0 can not be compared to project settings of previous Unity Pro
versions.
2.3.
Comparison in Offline mode only
Unity Dif will compare project
files from the same PC or from remote PC. In this mode, it will not be possible
to compare a project file directly with a project embedded into a PLC
2.4.
Use of Security Editor
o
If
the Security is ON in Unity Pro, Unity Dif will compare project files after
asking for the appropriate profile to be used. However, for Unity Dif to
function correctly, the profile should have rights to at least do the following:
Open an existing project, Import Project and Save a Project. In case of default
Unity profile, it is recommended to use the PROGRAM profile.
o
If
the Security is ON in Unity Pro, the samples cannot be used directly. You will
need to modify them to provide the username and password of the correct profile
to be used for the comparison and recompile the samples.
o
If
the Security is ON in Unity Pro with no login or avoidable login, Unity Dif will
still prompt for the username and password. Please provide the username and
password of the correct profile to be used for the comparison
2.5.
Project Settings Limitation
Since
few Project Settings have been newly added to Unity Pro 5.0, the comparison of
project files from Unity Pro 4.1 and Unity Pro 5.0, may
contains added or deleted differences in the Project Settings
section.
2.6.
Removal of whitespaces during Project Import
/ Export in Unity Pro
During
Project Import / Export in Unity Pro it could happen that whitespaces at the
beginning or at the end of certain language elements are being removed which
leads to insignificant differences displayed in Unity Dif.
2.7.
FDT/DTM Comparison
The
FDT/DTM configuration are not compared
3.
Troubleshooting
3.1.
“State/Province” mandatory
While registering Unity Dif, in the
user information, the field "State/Province" is mandatory. If this field is not
applicable to you, please re-enter the name of your country
3.2.
Uninstall and Reinstall of Unity Pro
In case you have to uninstall and
reinstall Unity Pro, the “Project Comparison” menu will disappear from the Unity
Pro tools menu. To get the menu back, please reinstall or repair Unity Dif
3.3.
Comparison of 2 STU files in a read-only server does not
work
Comparison of 2 STU files in a
read-only server does not work. Please copy the files to a local folder with
read/write permissions for performing a successful comparison
3.4.
Chinese OS not supported
This version of Unity Dif does not
support the Chinese operating system
3.5.
Unity Dif Batch mode - complete path mandatory
Enter complete path and filename
(Example: C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\Unity Dif\Unity.stu)
4.
Release Notes last minute information
4.1.
Do not delete XEF or STU files during comparison
While performing a comparison in
Unity Dif, do not delete the files being compared. Deleting the files can lead
to error conditions.
4.2.
Saving STU files with different names when program sections
are opened in Unity Pro
After performing a comparison in
Unity Dif and opening program sections in Unity Pro, if you do a "Save As" in
Unity Pro and save the STU files with different names, ensure that you close the
Unity Pro instances before you start another comparison or exit Unity Dif.
4.3.
Stopping the comparison in progress
When the comparison is being
performed, you can stop the comparison using the Cancel button, the Alt+F4 key
combination or the Esc key. Pressing the "X" cross button will not stop the
comparison.
5.
Using Unity Dif with Unity Pro 4.0 and above
The organization of data stored on
the computer has changed with Unity Pro V4.0. Unity Dif V2.0 is not compliant to
the new structure. Unity Pro 4.0 has been shipped with a tool to restore the old
structure to be able to use Unity Dif V2.0 SP1 with Unity Pro 4.0.
The utility software is called
"UpdateForCompanions.bat" and is located in the folder "UpdateForCompanions" on
the Unity Pro 4.0 CD. Please refer to the Unity Pro 4.0 Documenation for more
information.
This tool is not needed
anymore with Unity Dif V2.21!
It’s also now possible with Unity
Dif V2.21 to use Unity Dif with the smaller packages (S, M, L) of Unity Pro 4.0 and higher, too.
